Commercial transport photographer Tim Wallace has built up over 20 years of experience working in varied transport-based industries that involve different elements of truck photography. These include commercial vehicle photography both in studio and on location, logistics-based photography, freight and haulage, specialist vehicles, prototype vehicles, and engineering. With a proven track record for producing high-quality dynamic advertising and marketing transport photography, he is trusted by many leading brands and clients both in the UK and Europe, working with many of our clients on a regular basis to update their photography libraries and assets for ongoing and consistently high-quality marketing and advertising.

Tim also works with many large supply chain operations clients, fully understanding how crucial it can be to capture the true ‘essence’ of an operation to best represent his clients’ operation, their brand, and their customer vision, through his commercial photography. Producing consistent content that tells a visual story and promotes our customer’s message.

Truck photography, logistics, operations and supply chain photography can in its nature be a very involved medium of work that brings together many elements to create a final piece of commercial photography work for a client project through to delivery. From finding the right location or securing the right studio that can handle a specialised or large vehicle, to bringing together the logistics and not least managing the actual product, the truck, commercial vehicle or indeed the elements of our clients’ operations.

Having worked in these specialist sectors for many years we have a great deal of valuable knowledge, this not only allows us to do the very best work for our clients but also be sensitive to their commitments and operations, whilst they maintain their day-to-day service operation. It is this sort of experience and knowledge that we often find that brings our clients the peace of mind that we not only understand the requirements of commercial photography properly but also their daily business commitments so that the work undertaken is sensitive to that and we plan shoots with our clients carefully so that busy operational day-to-day activities are impacted as little as possible while we work to complete the photography they require.

Tim's specialist area of commercial photography and arguably what he is best known for is his vehicle photography, the work that he produces for our clients for both its quality and its unique creativity. Our goal is not only to capture the commercial vehicle or commercial operation but to inspire the client's own customers to see beyond and get a real sense of the client, to be quite literally inspired so that drives forward and inspired the client’s customers. We have vast experience in shooting high-end photography both on location and within a commercial studio environment, working closely with the key studios in the UK that are equipped, and capable, of having the size and space to a allow full tractor-trailer configuration.

"It’s a little too easy to create an ‘acceptable’ image for quick gratification where a little thought and passion can easily make use of the digital medium to create a truly inspirational piece of work through careful thought, exposure, and lighting. A camera does not create a great photograph, the photographer does, 90% of the achievement lies in your imagination of what you want to create.

Studio and Location

Location shooting can often play a large part of a client shoot and this may well be within their own depot or operational facilities, or indeed in the case of dynamic moving photography of the vehicles being required we often will often use a dedicated test facility such as MIRA. This type of facility has the space and road size to allow differing permutations of shots that could involve a full tractor-trailer unit truck or indeed sometimes multiple units in formation. We have gained valuable experience over the years in these situations dealing with safety assessments and such like for the test facilities to meet their own safety requirements and we are, as you would expect, fully insured and work professionally at all times to ensure safety on such shoots is paramount and considered at all times. Tim has worked at many of these such facilities over the years and so has a very good level of experience and knowledge of both the track facilities and the potential in each area, thus saving time and allowing us to minimise client costs.

Photography in studio is a completely different skill set and this is something we both have vast experience and technical skill to carry out to the very best level for our clients. Tim has shot in studios all over the world getting the very best results to create high-quality vehicle-based work for our clients. Over recent years we have been commissioned several times by 2 of our clients who both required high-quality photography to be completed of large DiSAB full tanker units in studio, these have represented the largest vehicles ever to be shot in studio in the UK.

We always push to create truly inspirational pieces of work for our clients through careful planning and our approach to all our shoots. A camera does not create a great photograph, the photographer does, 90% of the achievement lies in the imagination of what you want to create and of course, the planning that you put in place initially. Getting across the clients’ brand and the correct view of their operation is always paramount to any shoot no matter what the location type, from yard to a busy quarry or refinery.

We work all over the world through what we do as many of our clients have global operations and it is important for them that they not only have those represented well through the photography but also that there is a consistency throughout the images as these will very often be presented on the same corporate website. A good example of this is our work with long term client ‘Terberg’, where we shoot throughout the UK for them across many of their centres but also into their European operations, often using local locations where the client operates such as the Port of Rotterdam. In these locations we plan the work ahead of the shooting dates so that all safety requirements and permits are in place to allow for a smooth shoot day.

Our clients are building steadily each year and we are very fortunate that they include some major corporate companies both in the UK, Europe and US. If you would like to discuss a project with us then please reach out and lets talk. Some of our clients are very aware of photographic procedures, but for others, it may well be their first time looking at getting some professional photography completed for their brand or company. We can help with all aspects of the shoot from location advice through to operational planning so that the impact on your operation is minimised as much as possible. We view all our photography from a commercial viewpoint, understanding that clients have specific requirements and what we can do to meet those.
