We listen
We listen to your specific requirements and importantly what you wish to achieve from the photography. We guarantee you'll receive the best possible results, quickly and efficiently. When you're under pressure for time and the photography is just one of the many projects you're managing, having a photographer you can trust to meet your deadlines is critical. We have experience of not only working with large marketing organizations such as Ice and Buddy in Sweden but also working directly with very large clients such as Kenwood in the US, Aston Martin, Morgan, NFT, and many others.

Understanding the requirements
AmbientLife has a simple but effective process that allows us to build a full and detailed picture of what you are looking for. The initial step is to simply have a discussion with you and find out where and how the photography will be used, what style of photography you're looking for and what you want to emphasise in each photo. Other items you may wish to discuss are branding inclusion in the photography and orientation of images so that they fit into those proverbial holes that many brochure and web designers will already have in mind. We will also be looking closely at the finished output that you have in mind whether that be web use or a corporate media presentation, it’s often at this point that we find that these discussions can be very useful in outlining some possibilities through our experience that you may not have considered previously.
Once we've gained an overview of your needs we can move forward and plan the work so that it takes place as efficiently as possible.
We'll review the content and advise you of any suggestions we have regarding the actual shoot, how long the shoot is anticipated to take, the number of photographs you can expect to receive and also a price estimate. If you are happy for us to proceed, you can confirm by sending an email stating you would like to confirm the commission.

Sample of Corporate Work outputs

2010 Mercedes Commercial Calendar, for over two years Photographer Tim Wallace has shot this annual project for our Mercedes client.
The calendar is very successful and is placed into all Mercedes outlets through the world each year.

The Morgan Motor Company, one of our clients that joined Ambient Life in 2010. Since working with Morgan we have supplied photography for both web and brochure use as well as providing powerful dynamic photography for the Geneva Motor Show launch of the new Sport Series and exhibitions such as the 2010 Design Exhibition held in Milan Italy.

We have worked with Aston Martin for a number of years now and some of Tim's Aston Martin photography is very well known within the automotive industry for being both cutting edge and almost bordering art. One of our largest clients we shoot regular work with Aston working on sales photography and brochures as well as the background engineering and process. In 2009 Tim was commissioned to shoot the infamous £1 million Aston Martin, the One-77 at the Gaydon Design Centre and this material was used in advertising and some editorial features.

Recent project working with a UK based Catering Company, Superior, to help them create a new marketing campaign and help raise brand awareness within their market sector with their customers.

We have been working with the UK food logistics Company NFT for over 2 years and we were initially brought into the operation to create a library of strong photography for their UK and European marketing, we continue to work with this client today and develop further new material.

2009 'Fashion Kills' commercial advertising project for Hasselblad UK. The work was produced by photographer Tim Wallace and has been used in various forms from marketing to event promotion. The project concept was the use of fur ion the fashion industry in the 50s and the work although it has a fashion photography element does have that harder contrast of slight controversy with Tim's use of fur on the models.

All presentations that are produced use professional production software, and are available in different media outputs such as high quality DVD, PC based media, or even as self contained executable files. Branded screen-savers and other items are available if required also allowing a presentation that is not only visually impressive but also one that contains your branding for use within your premises or for prospective clients.
What's involved on the day of the shoot?
Arranging a photo shoot can be time consuming and is often a long-winded process, with the need to obtain permission from all parties concerned… from the building's owner or architect to arranging access with security. By leaving these finer details to AmbientLife, you can concentrate on other aspects within your business saving you the time and hassle. Very occasionally we're asked for more information on the photographic assignment.
You can be confident that should any issues arise, they'll always be resolved quickly and efficiently.
At AmbientLife Photography we always ensure you're never left out of the loop and will always update you with changes to any arrangements.
This way, if any unforeseen hurdles are encountered with the shoot, we can deal with these swiftly as and when they arise.

Once the actual shoot commences the hard work really begins. Before any photographs are even taken, your brief is always reviewed again on site. This allows us to walk around the site and carefully consider what your requirements are and what we have to work with.

What happens next ?
Once we're back in the studio the final process takes place transforming the RAW images into stunning photographs. First of all the images are downloaded from the camera's memory cards on to the computer. After these RAW files are saved and converted to 16 bit Tiff format for the final image manipulation in Photoshop, they are archived for safekeeping. This is to ensure that in the event of any computer failure, your pictures are safely backed up on to a separate disc that can be easily retrieved if needed. Using specialist software those RAW image files that have been selected are individually processed to give the optimum colour balance and brightness.
When working in the digital darkroom, any unwanted artefact's e.g. company logo's etc that couldn't be physically removed on site, are carefully removed from the Tiff images and the background seamlessly blended in. Then the colour saturation, brightness and contrast are fine-tuned to give the best results possible.
Finally, the images are sharpened to enhance the way the pictures appear in print, then saved in 8 bit Tiff and Jpeg format ready to be issued to you at A4 300dpi (dots per inch) being the industry standard for colour reproduction in brochures and catalogues but if you do require them in another format, we'll convert them to whatever you want. We normally supply all files on sRGB colour-space however we are very happy to also supply in CYMK if that is your requirement at no extra cost what so ever. If you intend using the photos on your website, we provide you with a set of images specially reduced to 72 dpi. This is because you'll need smaller files when the images are used for this purpose. There is also an option to have your work digitally watermarked discreetly to ensure that it is totally theft proof on line if the work is to be used for product catalogues or such like. Commonly your final photographic work is then burned on to one of our data CD's - labeled to show the job name and date of the shoot for ease of reference.
We do also supply a printing service to all our clients and this allows you to maintain the best possible quality from our work so that it may displayed correctly and to a high standard, part of the service also includes a design element where we can work with our clients to create placements of work that are fully branded.

Invoicing and postage
A copy of our invoice will also be enclosed for your attention at the point that you are given the completed work. Our standard payment terms are 30 days from date of invoice and you may decide to pay by cheque or automatic BACS transfer (whichever is easiest for you).
We will also need a purchase order number, if this is the method you use for authorising invoice payments.
Third party to use of AmbientLife photography
All third parties wishing to use the commissioned photography must be directed to AmbientLife Photography to negotiate the right to use such images.

Copyright
If I commission AmbientLife Photography, can I use the images as often as I want without restrictions?
The simple answer is yes! AmbientLife Photography doesn't charge usage fees where the images are used for your PR and marketing purposes, i.e. use in press releases, brochures, website or other literature, as we firmly believe that you should have the freedom to use the images as often as you want without having additional fees imposed on you. This way, you know exactly how much it's going to cost you from the outset and there are no hidden extras!
Do I own the images when I commission AmbientLife Photography?
In accordance with the 1988 Copyright, Designs & Patents Act, the copyright remains the property of the commissioned Photographer and a credit must always be attributed to AmbientLife Photography, unless a written agreement specifically passes ownership of the images to a third party.
What happens if I want to pass on some of the images for a third party to use?
All third parties wishing to use the commissioned photography must be directed to AmbientLife Photography to negotiate the right to use such images. However, if you know of any third party wishing to use the images we've taken for you, once you've put them in touch with us, we'll then credit you with half of any agreed fee we've negotiated with the third party. By simply spreading the word, you can directly benefit from the use of the images both visually and financially.

Guide
Some clients find the concept of copyright and licensing quite confusing. This page is aimed at helping clients who may be struggling with this area of commissioning a photographer.
Copyright is about who owns the images.
Licensing is about who has the right to reproduce the images.
A license can be designed to fit a clients needs. It will set out what type of publications the photographs can be used in, under what circumstances, where in the world they can be used and the length of time this agreement between photographer and client lasts.
If the client finds they need to use the photographs in a way that is not covered by the license or that they need to use them after the period of the license has run out, they need to contact the photographer to negotiate further use at an extra cost.
